Welcome to my blog this will, hopefully, inform you about the interesting topic of mesothelioma, the symptoms, the treatment and mesothelioma lawyers.

Mesothelioma pronounced [mess-o-thee-lee-o-ma] can occur in different places of the body, the most common being the pleura (the outer lining of the lungs and chest cavity), but also it can occur in the peritonium (the lining of the abdominal cavity), and the pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart).

Signs/symptoms

Signs/symptoms of mesethelioma may not come until long, long after the exposure to asbestos.
It can take as long as 20-50 years. Due to the different types, symptoms can vary but they include:
Cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, weight loss, fever, blood clotting abnormalities, anemia and swelling to name a but a few.

The diagnosis of mesothelioma can be difficult, as the symptoms are/can be similar similar to other diseases/infections.

You may find yourself asking "well how common is mesothelioma?" well although reported cases have increased in the last 20 years, it is still a relatively rare cancer.
Reported cases are around 1 in a million varying due to type of mesothelioma and location.

Treatment

Treatment of mesothelioma using conventional therapies has not proved successful and patients have an average survival time of 6 - 12 months after presentation.

Other options include:
Surgery - 5 year survival rate of less than 10%
Radiation - can restrict tumor growth
